Reconnect, Cambridge
UAL Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Central St. Martins 2020/21
The ‘Reconnect’ project will give me the opportunity to enhance and excite public spaces to promote human interaction aiding the rebuild of the community post-COVID. In this project, I want to look into problems that might have arisen during the pandemic and how I could take influence from interactive and reactive architecture to alleviate these problems. Especially post-COVID, people’s communicative skills may have grown weak, I want to use this project to bring communities back together and to help people regain their mental health and confidence.
This is showing how I want the piece to interrupt the path on my site to tell a story. I love Richard Serra’s work and feel it’s a key influence for me moving forward. I like the circular spaces here and have put trees in to create some shelter, I see these spots as places for reflection. I think lengthening the path with the winding nature of the structure will stop people from the rush, and allow for contemplation, in attempt to improve mental health.
